Body/chassis Revisions

·         Brake discs enlarged by 5.5mm (June 1971).

·         Engine lid contour modified and vents increased from 10 to 26, rear window size enlarged at top by 4cm, new hood and cover for Convertible, catalytic converter added for export models to California (August 1971).

·         VW Diagnosis maintenance test socket to engine compartment  (June 1971).

·         All US models - buzzer/ignition key warning, red side reflectors to rear tail light assembly, side marker lights and reflectors incorporated in enlarged turn signal/parking lights. Back-up lights made standard - (August 1971).

Interior Revisions

·         Safety steering wheel, steering column wiper/washer lever - (August 1971).

·         Sedans only - rear interior ventilation slots increased from 2 to 3 with flaps, rear luggage space cover added - (August 1971).

·         Semi-automatic transmission 5.5x15 Sports wheels (part no. 111 601 025J) with 34mm back spacing (May 1972)

·         'L' package (standard on Convertible) - back-up lights, rubber inserts in bumpers, padded dashboard cover, door pocket, two-speed fan powered ventilation, dual circuit brake warning light (as part of fan switch assembly), lockable glove compartment lid, make up mirror in passenger's sun visor, non-dazzle interior rear view mirror, two ashtrays in rear.
